My Dear Parishioners,
This Wednesday, October 4th, is the Church’s feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Joseph Church will host our annual Blessing of the Animals, in honor of St. Francis this Sunday, October 1st at 1:00 p.m. Please bring your leashed animals to the grassy area between the two back parking lots for a brief prayer service and blessing.
October is also the time when we have our “October Count” during Masses. We count all those in attendance at all of our Saturday night and Sunday Masses and forward those numbers to the Archdiocese. Please pardon the additional clicking noise during Mass, and thank you to our ushers for taking the count.
We continue our Eucharistic Formation series Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist on Tuesday Oct. 3 and 10th at 6:30 in the parish Lower Hall. Please join us.
Our 40 Hours will be on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday October 15, 16, and 17. There will be Evening Prayer and Benediction each of the three nights and opportunities for confession on Tuesday. Please sign up for an hour adoration, so that Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament will not be left unattended. Sign-up sheets are at the tables at the church exits.
October is annually observed as Respect Life Month in Catholic Churches across our nation. Bishop Michael F. Burbidge (a former Philadelphia priest and Auxilary Bishop), Chairman, USCCB Committee on Pro- Life Activities has written a reflection, here is a portion of the text. God Bless you,
