My Dear Parishioners,

I want to thank all those who supported our Easter Flower Collection. You helped to pay for the beautiful decorations for our solemn celebrations.  Please know that your intentions will continue to be remembered throughout the entire Easter Season. The envelopes with your intentions written on them will remain on the reredos (back altar) until Pentecost. Once again I thank Mrs. Carla Venditti and Mrs. Karen Baranowski and their team, who did an excellent job not only with decorating, but also with maintaining the floral displays. Thank you also to Bill and Rosemary Hronchak who do so much hard work behind the scenes setting up the sanctuary for all the various liturgical celebrations. They are the ones who make sure that the appropriate altar linens are used, and set up the tabernacle of reservation for Holy Thursday and the various Good Friday displays, as well as helping me prepare the church for the Easter Masses. If you have not yet returned your rice bowls, please bring them in and place them in the receptacles at the exits.

I recently met with the Pastoral Council to go over ideas submitted to our Suggestion Box that the parishioners would like to see here at St. Joseph. They decided that it would be a good idea to respond to them so that people can see what is happening with their suggestions. Obviously not everything that everyone wants is going to be possible, but I thought it would be good to let you know where we stand on some things. A number of the suggestions were what we classified as more social oriented. They included things such as a spaghetti dinner and a beef and beer. Another suggestion was for an afternoon bingo that would cater to our seniors. When discussing the various options we realized that in order to move forward on these ideas we definitely have to update the kitchen in our lower hall. It is in need of serious improvements. When we held our Casino Night, we collected a little over half of what we will need to finish the project. We decided that we should focus on the kitchen first so that we can accomplish the other ideas. I gave the approval and we have purchased the cabinets. Parishioners have volunteered their time and labor to get the work done. In the meantime, if anyone wishes to contribute to the completion of the kitchen in the Hall, please note “Hall Kitchen” in the memo line of your check and send it to the rectory. Thank you for your suggestions.

God Bless You!
Fr. Bordonaro
