Manna Food Drive and Support Sunday Broadcasts

My Dear Parishioners,

Thank you for your generous support for our Manna Food Drive.  Even though our numbers appear down, due to the Coronavirus, we collected a tremendous amount of food.  As of the time I am writing this column I do not know exactly how much food was collected but I can say that it was significant.  Thank you also to our “Food Collection volunteers.”  Every month they transport our bags of food to help feed those in our area.  If anyone is able to help in transporting the food, please contact me, I am sure they could use the help.  Our food is taken to one of the Archdiocesan approved distribution sites.  The site is managed by the Coordinating Council of Health and Welfare, Inc.  The “Coordinating Council” is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to give emergency help to needy families, in the area of Bucks and Montgomery Counties, surrounding Warminster.  This aid includes food, help with prescriptions, and other special needs.  The Council is supported by donations from area churches, service organizations, businesses, and individuals.  If you or someone you know in our area are in need of this assistance, you can go to the Food Cupboard at 75 Downey Drive in Warminster on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.  You can call the Food Cupboard at 215-672-9422.

I want to thank all those involved with recording the Mass whether audio (for radio broadcast on FM-WRDV 89.3 on Sundays at 9:00 a.m.) or video available on our website, www.saintjosephchurch.us. These recordings have been a most important tool for evangelization especially during quarantine, and while the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is lifted.  I have heard from so many how happy and comforted they were to hear/see/pray Mass with their home community.  It has proven to be a vital link to stay connected.  We used to have a sponsor for the radio broadcast, but now we cover the cost of the broadcast ourselves.  If anyone is interested in donating towards these important broadcasts, please send a check to St. Joseph, and identify it as for Sunday Broadcasts.  Thank you for your support.

Some people have asked me if the Archdiocese is just cancelling its annual Wedding Anniversary Mass at the Cathedral.  The answer is no. The Annual Archdiocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 5:15 pm at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul at 18th and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia. Archbishop Nelson Pérez will be the principal celebrant and homilist. This Mass will be celebrating, in particular, those couples marking their 5 year, 10 year, 25 year and 50 year wedding anniversary milestones. Friends and Family are welcome and encouraged to attend. To RSVP go to www.phillycatholiclife.org or call the Office for Life and Family at 215-587-0500.

God Bless You!
Fr. Bordonaro
