My Dear Parishioners,
We now return to the liturgical color green for our Sunday celebrations. Even though technically Ordinary Time began after Pentecost, on May 20th, the Church celebrates the Solemnities of the Most Holy Trinity and the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, two central mysteries of our faith, before we move into this season that will carry us through the summer and into Advent in the fall. In a sense, “Ordinary Time” is a time that falls outside the major holy seasons of the year; Easter, Christmas, Advent and Lent. But Ordinary Time is not just the absence of a major season any more than our lives are ordinary on days that are not holidays. Ordinary Time forms the foundation of the liturgical year; after all, it comprises almost two-thirds of the calendar. We will be hearing a lot from the Gospel of Mark in this time, may I suggest you read through Mark for your reflection and meditation as a preparation for our Sunday celebrations.
Congratulations to our 8th grade graduates. They completed their grammar school education this Wednesday. Please pray for them and their families as they move on to the next phase of their education and formation. This week we mark the end of our school year at St. Joseph / St. Robert. Thank you once again to Mrs. Debbie Jaster and all of our excellent faculty and staff. You do so much to make our school great while also making it feel like a warm and loving home to so many of our young people. Thank you also to all of our parishioners too, because your sacrifices and generosity help to keep our school going. If you know a family with school age children, please consider recommending our school to them.
Finally, we are recalling all paper vouchers from our scrip program. If you have any vouchers at home, please apply them to any catholic grade school, CCD, high school or college tuition before the end of this month. If you do not have someone who is enrolled in any of those, please consider donating the vouchers to the parish and we will apply it to a family’s tuition. The deadline for cashing in the vouchers is June 30, 2018. We will continue to offer the scrip sales and the tuition credits, but we are moving to a new accounting system for the credits. If you can help with the scrip sales after any of the Sunday Masses, please contact the rectory. We are always in need of sellers.
God Bless You!
