My Dear Parishioners,
We have opened up the passageway between the back two parking lots and it seems to be going well. Unfortunately, last week someone drove through the barrier, which was not hard to do because it was plastic. I will be looking to install a heavy metal chain with a lock in order to prevent this from happening again.
This week I met with the teachers and catechists who will be volunteering for our CCD classes this year. I am most appreciative and grateful for all their help and support. These are very generous people who volunteer their time, usually after a full day working. Next weekend we honor them and all who teach in Catholic Education whether they help out at Saint Joseph/St. Robert School, CCD, RCIA or other Education programs such as High School or College. Please help us thank and honor them at the Masses next week. On Tuesday of this week I will meet with the parents of our CCD students. When I meet with the parents, I intend to discuss the disturbing results of two recent polls that say that well over a majority of Catholics no longer believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This is one of the most basic and fundamental teachings of our faith. We must do what we can to strengthen our faith and belief in this most precious Mystery. In the coming weeks I will be making some materials available for further study and reflection. Our students will start CCD classes the following week, please pray for them and our families as we try to pass on our faith.
We are preparing to offer the RCIA or Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults once again this year. This is the special program where those who are interested in becoming Catholic, whether they have never been baptized or were raised in another faith, can learn more about our faith and receive the sacraments to become a Catholic. As a reminder, we are all catechists, in that we should join together in passing on the faith. If you know someone who is considering joining the Catholic Faith, or someone who maybe simply needs to be asked, now is the time. We are holding our special Night of Inquiry on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m. in classroom 18. Anyone interested in finding out more about the faith is invited to join us. Please call the rectory if interested, 215-672-3020. No commitment is necessary at this time; it is just an evening to find out what is involved. Also we are in real need of adults who are interested in our faith and willing to become members of our Team. We are looking for adults who can facilitate and lead a dialogue about the faith. You don’t need to be a professional speaker or teacher, but just someone who is in love with our faith and willing to share that with others. Many times, the leaders tell me that they receive just as much from the work as the candidates and catechumens. Please contact me if interested.
God Bless you,
