My Dear Parishioners,
We sold out of the Christmas Cards that I had printed in less than a week, so I ordered more. If they arrive in time, they will be on sale this weekend, if not, then certainly by next weekend. Again, we are selling them for $20 for a pack of 25 cards w/envelopes or $35 for 2 packs. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support. You will be able to purchase them after Mass or at the rectory Monday through Friday from 9:00 – 4:00. I am also going to have some at St. Joseph / St. Robert school. You can purchase them at the school office.
I also want to thank our SJR Jr. CYO for their support of evangelization. A request was made through one of the RCIA team members and the CYO has purchased a copy of the DVD Symbolon Series which we are using to teach the faith through our RCIA Program. They have also covered the cost of some additional leader guides. The CYO has made it possible for the catechists to be able to take a copy of the DVD so that they can watch it and prepare their lessons at home, which is a great help.
Our 2018 calendars are available at the Church exits, please take one home with you. The beautiful calendars are gifts from the Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral home in Hatboro. Thank you to Mr. Jeff Plunkett for this annual gift. I still keep mine on the refrigerator door.
We welcomed our young people who will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion this year to our Monday evening Rosary and Benediction this past week. We also gave them each a rosary, a prayer book, a scapular, and a pin. We want to pass on our Catholic traditions to our young people and one excellent way to do this is by bringing them to our public devotions.
Today our school is hosting its Fall Open House & Early Childhood Registration. The Open House will run on Sunday, November 12th: 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., and then again on Thursday, November 16th: 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Come check out the great things happening at SJR. There is an option for half day and/or full day Pre-K & Kindergarten. For more information, please call 215/343-5100 or go to www.stjstr.org.
I recently attended a workshop with Mrs. Cain, our parish DRE, that suggested we need to get our parents more involved in educating their children in the faith. It suggested having parents and children work together on some religiously themed task. So I ask that our CCD parents mark in your calendars, Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017. This is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and also the Tuesday before the start of the Season of Advent. On that day we would love our parents to stay with their children for their usual CCD class and we will together, make a family Advent wreath. There will be some brief teaching about the wreath and the season of Advent. We will also celebrate a Prayer Service and bless the wreaths, and each family will go home with a family Advent wreath ready to be used that weekend.
God Bless you,
